Dining Around The World...Flame Tree Barbecue
Posted on - 2/21/2008
Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 and even though its Disney's largest park; the one thing it lacked was an abundance of restaurants as in the other three parks. The only table service eatery was the Landry owned Rainforest Cafe, but this was outside the main gate, not "In the Park" All the other places to dine were counter-service and kiosks scattered about. With the opening of the new "Yak and Yeti" in Asia, the table service part was solved.

Disney's Haunted Mansion...Our Favorite Attraction
Posted on - 2/6/2008
Since I spend half my life at the theme parks, the most-asked question I receive from friends and family is "What is your favorite attraction?" Without hesitation, I tell them the Haunted Mansion. Why? Because not only have I loved ghost stories and movies since I can remember, but this attraction is the quintessential embodiment of the true Disney experience. It is also one of the most popular rides in all of the Disney parks.
Walt Disney's Dream of an Apartment in New Orleans Square Becomes Reality
Posted on - 1/31/2008
In the 1960's Walt Disney envisioned a larger apartment to be used by himself, brother Roy, their families, friends and special guests. Walt selected Dorothea Redmond to create the concept art. Sadly, when Walt passed away in December 1966, plans were halted on the construction. For the past 40 years, the space originally planned for this apartment had other uses. Most recently as the Disney Gallery for the past 20 years.

The venerable "El Rio del Tiempo" boat ride in the Mexican pavilion closed its doors on Jan 1st of this year in preparation of a rehab for a change in the storyline to reflect the Disney classic 1944 short film starring Donald Duck, "The Three Caballeros", which was released on February 3rd, 1945. In this film, which was a wartime film designed to cement friendship and relations with South America, has Donald Duck transported into an Alice-in-Wonderland scenario where he experiences a Book on Brazil in a surreal setting. Here his friends Jose Carioca, a cigar-smoking Parrot from Brazil and Panchito Pistoles, a Mexican Charro Rooster try to keep Donald from losing his head over the beautiful South American woman.

The Year of a Million Dreams Press Event - Part II
Posted on - 2/19/2007
Thursday the 25th was a full scheduled day and I arrived in the Magic Kingdom at 8:15am. Again it was raining to beat the band, cold and dreary. But at the Castle, the sun shown for the Davis family of Lilonia Arkansas. This family made history as the First family to spend the night in Cinderella Castle! Mother Angie, Father Brian, sons Kolton, 8, Dallas 11 and sisters Katy 10 and big sister Jessica 16 brought all the sunshine needed. When I got a chance to speak to them, the story of how they won a week's stay at Walt Disney World and a night's stay in the Castle was one of Disney Legends. Angie explained she entered the contest on-line at www.Disneyparks.com/rules. The question was "Why do you deserve a stay at Walt Disney World?" Angie believes when she explained her husband was in the Army stationed in Iraq, that might have been the reason she won. But when she found out she had won, ABC contacted the Army and arranged for Brian to get leave during the stay! That is magical by any means.

The newest window display on Main Street U.S.A at Disneyland Resort
Posted on - 5/25/2005
At the Disney Clothiers, I was looking from the sidewalk and noticed something familiar but surreal. It is a 'diorama' or window dressing of Walt Disney’s Fire House Apartment!! I looked at it and for a minute it made me feel deja vu. (Yes, I have been in the Apartment) but then I looked and it wasn't my eyes deceiving me, it is intended as a mock up of the exclusive apartment!!

The guy with her was about the same height as her.
All about Melissa
Posted on - 11/14/2004
I vividly remember the first time I went to Walt Disney World, I was about two years old, and my parents had brought me to the Orlando area to visit my uncle. Seeing numerous billboards picturing everyone's favorite mouse, I cried and pleaded to see him. . .so my parents, thinking I was too young to fully enjoy Disney, took me to Downtown Disney (which was then known as Disney Village Marketplace). In a toy store, I played with a giant plush toy of Mickey Mouse, and truly believed it was the real thing.
