GAVIN'S RAMBLINGS

The Important Things...
Posted on - 5/18/2008
Over the last few weeks I have been spending a lot of time in thought as to what is really important to me in my life. Call it a midlife crisis (I am sucking up to 40), call it soul searching, call it what ever you like but it has been a powerful experience with me. Over the last few weeks I have thought a lot about what I want for the future, for myself as well as my family, and have thought about what is really important in my life. I have discovered it isn't the car I drive, it isn't the house I live in or the vacations I do or don't take, but it is the six other people I share my life with. Those are The Important Things in my life and without those things I have no life.

Rockin' Space Mountain - Amazing!
Posted on - 2/21/2007
Ok, I will be the first to admit I am not a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, but I must say, the temporary overlay at Disneyland's Space Mountain is amazing!! The has been one of my favorite attractions at the park for years and I had the thrill of checking out this new limited time only version of the ride a couple of weeks ago and it was better than I thought it would be.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like...
Posted on - 10/30/2006
Well you know how the song goes, but for Disneyland it is a whole bunch of Holiday looks heading your way. Right now it is Disneyland's first ever Halloween Time to help celebrate Halloween for all the little ghosts and goblins. As soon as you approach the main turnstiles of the entrance you are going to notice the amazing jack-o-lanterns that welcome you to Disneyland. (Go take a look at the Disneyland photos section to see what I mean.)

"I" am going to Disneyland
Posted on - 6/14/2006
No, I am not going. In fact, I just got back from a 5 day trip to Disneyland and have a lot to talk about. Of course some is positive and some is negative, but you can't have the good without the bad right?

Living Hidden Mickey
Posted on - 5/19/2006
One of the users of our message board mentioned she had a new kitten that had a Hidden Mickey pattern in its fur so we asked if she could send in some pictures of it.

Now That Was Fun!
Posted on - 5/10/2006
The winner of last months Mickey News Give-A-Way never contacted us so we were forced to give the Narnia DVD away to someone else. Normally we would have just picked another random name from the database but this time we wanted to do something a little more fun and reward those people who are really reading the newsletter right away. We decided to give the DVD to the 50th person to email us with the statement "I want the DVD" in the message subject. Well the contest was a lot faster than we had guessed and we ended up getting a winner within about 5 minutes of sending the newsletter out!

Private Tours And Park Expulsions!
Posted on - 4/24/2005
It has been awhile since I have written anything for my column on Mickey News, but with the recent news of Jim Hill being removed from Disneyland due to charging people to give them tours at the Happiest Place On Earth and David Koenig almost getting removed from the park for giving a free tour after a book signing event at Down Town Disney, I just had to write something.

Mickey News Photographer Captures Family On Film.
Posted on - 2/13/2005
One evening while reading my mail from visitors of the site I ran across the following e-mail from Hank saying how exciting it was to see his family’s photo on Mickey News in the EPCOT photo section.

Disneyland Rider Assistant Passes
Posted on - 1/6/2005
In recent history, Disneyland has had quite a few issues when it comes to the Rider Assistant passes that is uses for guests with disabilities. It seems that Disney is still trying to figure out a method to make the park a happy and accessible place for all their guests but so far they have not been making either side happy.

Special Announcement – This Just In….
Posted on - 9/29/2004
Hi all, like my wedding anniversary announcement, I have yet another off topic announcement to make, but again, it’s my site, so sit back and enjoy.

The Great Fast Pass Debate.
Posted on - 7/25/2004
If you are a fan of Disney, and since you are reading this I will assume you must be, then you are sure to have seen the recent speculation regarding the much used Fast Pass system at Disneyland. Some have said that the entire Fast Pass system will be removed, others say it is just for specific attractions, and others feel it will be for certain time of year. Opinions vary but there seems to be two major camps in the debate, sounds like our political system to me, and both are very passionate in their feelings.

Great Father’s Day Weekend Trip to Disneyland!
Posted on - 6/21/2004
We had a wonderful father’s day weekend trip to Disneyland this weekend as did plenty of other people who were at the park this weekend as it was pretty busy. Lot’s of us dads got to spend the day at the park!

Happy Birthday Makenna!
Posted on - 6/5/2004
I just wanted to wish my special girl a Happy 2nd birthday today! She is my little Disney junkie in training. She may only be 2 but she has been to Disneyland about 15 times already in her life! So she is as bad as her mom and dad.

The New Security Gates At Disneyland Resort California.
Posted on - 3/24/2004
I had a first hand experience with the new security gates at Disneyland Resort in California last week, and in my opinion, they are a blessing not a hindrance. I really don’t understand why some people think it is a huge new security step in response to terrorism; I really don’t see it that way at all. If anything, it is a drop in security not an increase. The old way, you had to pass thought a checkpoint each time you entered either park, now you pass though one and are free to roam between the parks without further checks.

Eisner Done, Roy Won?
Posted on - 2/27/2004
In recent days we have seen a number of key investors state that they will not support the continued employment of Michael Eisner as the CEO of The Disney Company. This comes after the very public attacks on Eisner, and other key board members, from Roy Disney and Stanley Gold after their abrupt resignations from the company this past December.

Disney Trivia!
Posted on - 2/25/2004
We just added a new forum topic called Disney Trivia. Each week we will ask a new trivia question in the form of a poll and see how many people know the answer. Some of these will be pretty simple, but others will challenge even the most devoted Disney fan.

The Great Disappearing Database.
Posted on - 2/19/2004
We had a slight problem with one of our databases over the long weekend and lost most of the people who signed up for the newsletter. We were able to recover about half of the entries, but the other half have fallen into the great database abyss never to be heard from again!

Comcast and Disney?
Posted on - 2/11/2004
Oh lord, what will happen now? I for one, would hate to see Comcast buy Disney, or for the two companies to merge in any way! Now maybe if Disney wanted to sell off part of their television arm, or one of their sports teams, I would not have a problem with it, but the thought of the entire company being owned by Comcast is not something I would like to see!

What this site is about…
Posted on - 1/21/2004
I just wanted to give everyone a fast run down as to the purpose of this site, what it is for and what it isn’t for as I have seen some confusion in a few of the Disney related Yahoo groups I have joined.

Trash! Why is there such a problem with trash at Disneyland in California?
Posted on - 1/9/2004
I have been going to Disneyland in California several times a year for the last 4 years and I have noticed a problem that seems to be getting worse and worse each time I go. Years ago when I used to go to the park I would never see trash anywhere, no cups or water bottles, no gum stuck to props that are within reach of queue lines, no cigarette butts no nothing. Now it seems that the trash is taking over the park.

Welcome to my ramblings!
Posted on - 1/3/2004
This is where I am going to vent my thoughts and ideas about Disney. I hope you don't take offence at any of this and I am sorry if you do!

Ok, so what is up with people when they go to the park? Do they forget about their manners or what? I hardly ever hear anyone say "Pardon Me" or "Excuse Me" when they bump into me or hit me with a stroller. What is up with that? Do people forget to say sorry when they are at the park? I even had one guy walk right into my baby the day after Christmas in California Adventure. Then when I told him that he should watch where he was walking he told me to "Shut up A------!" I about fell over I was so shocked.
I just wish people would be polite when they are at the parks. Yes it is busy and there are people everywhere, but lets be nice to each other!!!
