Trash! Why is there such a problem with trash at Disneyland in California?

I have been going to Disneyland in California several times a year for the last 4 years and I have noticed a problem that seems to be getting worse and worse each time I go. Years ago when I used to go to the park I would never see trash anywhere, no cups or water bottles, no gum stuck to props that are within reach of queue lines, no cigarette butts no nothing. Now it seems that the trash is taking over the park.

The last time we were at the park and were riding Splash Mountain I was appalled at the amount of trash both on and around the ride. There were empty water bottles located in different places along the ride course, bobbing in the water and laying on the ground. The log we were in had trash on the floor and the whole ride seemed to be a mess. Why would it be so hard to have a cast member ride a raft every hour or so and find the trash and pick it up. I would rather see a cast member picking up the trash then the trash just laying there.

My other problem with trash is the guests that are leaving it there in the first place! Do you just toss your trash all over your house too? I am sure you don’t so please; don’t toss it all over the park! People want to be able to enjoy the beauty and the magic that the park provides; we surly don’t want to look at your junk. The park has hundreds of trash cans, in fact it is hard to walk more than 20 feet without running into another trash can, so just pitch it in there and stop making such a mess!

The cast members have a hard enough job; they don’t need to walk around picking up your trash all day long. Have some respect for them, the other guests and the Earth itself. Wouldn’t you rather not see someone’s trash when you are walking around the park, or riding a ride? Let’s all help. If you walk by some trash, pick it up and put it in a trash can. If you see someone tossing trash down then ask them nicely to pick it up and put it in a trash can.

Wow, I sound like some Disney Employee handbook writer don’t I? I’m not, just someone who is sick of taking the family to Disneyland only to walk around a bunch of trash! Let’s all help out.

Until next time, have a magical day and don’t forget to find your Laughin’ place!
