Dining in Walt Disney World

This can be expensive! If you live in NYC, you might not notice but for the average Amercan, a Disney meal is about 20% more expensive than a hometown restaurant meal. Here are a few highlights and some inexpensive meals:

One of the best breakfast deals is the Trails End Buffet at the Fort Wilderness Campground. It costs $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. This is about ½ of the price of the other all you can eat breakfast buffets at WDW. You can catch a boat from the Magic Kingdom directly to Fort Wilderness. If you are at the other parks, you can catch a bus.

For lunch or dinner at the Magic Kingdom, we have found Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café is a pretty good deal. This is a counter service restaurant in Tomorrowland. They have a rotisserie chicken dinner (½ a chicken & mashed potatoes) for $6.99. There are other dining delights such as the Sub-Orbital Cheesesteak Sub for $6.69 . They have burgers and hot dogs and even a veggie burger. There is a fixin’s bar, too.

The Brown Derby at the Disney MGM Studios has a Cobb Salad for 2 for $12,99. It is delicious (chopped greens, turkey breast, bacon, egg, tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, avocado, and Cobb dressing) Not a bad price to eat in such a fine place!

For only $14.99 per adult and $6.99 per child (age 3-9) you can dine at the Biergarten at the World Showcase in Epcot for lunch! This is an all you can eat German buffet with musical show. (dinner is $19.99 A, $7.99 C).

At the Animal Kingdom, there is a restaurant called the Tusker House (counter service). They have a delicious Vegetable Sandwich (marinated vegetables on a focaccia bread with hummus spread, served with fresh fruit $7.29). It is wonderful and quite unique.

While I haven’t even skimmed the surface of the dining options on Disney property, I sure hope I have introduced you to some really interesting meals!
