The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
4/26/2004

By: Tina

Warning, this is a look at the new attraction at Disney’s California Adventure Park from one of the CM’s. This could spoil the ride for you as it will tell you exactly what to expect from the attraction. If you want to keep it a mystery until you ride it yourself, then please stop here and read something else! For those of you who want to know what to expect, then keep on reading!

Photo taken by Mickey News of the tower before it was finished.

You asked for it!!

I hope it doesn't blow it for you!

The actual attraction outside area is very much like a swank hotel driveway, you walk up to it and a 'bell hop' greets you, the queue area is atrium-like from the beginning. Once inside, meandering into the grand lobby, furnished in 1930's art deco, it is FABULOUS (there is a room along the way through the pre-show that is numbered as '22' which has significance to those who are TZ fanatics like me.) We then waited at the entry way to the library where a very large portrait of Queen Victoria is on the wall, on the opposite side of this entry way is a portrait of (I think) King Edward.

We are escorted into a library that contains so many fabulous artifacts of travels, and a Tiffany lamp on a table. A beautiful Oriental rug is beneath your feet. On one of the antique tables is a letter addressed to Rod Serling... and then the lights go out... a television screen goes on and the introduction for the Twilight Zone comes on. The one with the smashing window and the clock, the eye, and the 'swimming doll' he explains the past history of the grand hotel and how five people were never heard from again after boarding an elevator to the 13th floor. The lights go back up and the 'bell hop' directs us to enter the hotel's 13th floor via the freight elevator...

We pass through the boiler room area and queue up to enter the elevator. We are seated in the elevator... The elevator doors close and we are sent to the 13th floor and see the ghostly images of the five people who 'disappeared'. Then we see the starry blackness of the Twilight Zone ... then we go UP!! all the way to the top floor and it is open to the outside.... And just as quickly.... We go DOWN... And then we go UP ... And then we go DOWN.... And again we go UP.... See the outside.. And we go DOWN... And then we go UP.. And DOWN... And finally it is over!

I got so freaked out I couldn't manage to get my fingers unclenched from my arm rests!! I had to slide them off and they stayed cramped in a grip position!!

IT WAS A FULL BLOWN BLAST!!

Absolutely dizzying!! The lines are gonna be so long!! My husband said it was very exciting when he boarded it a few days before I even got to go on it!!

The Cast Members are very much in 'theme' in their 'spiels' it was so great just loved it!! Height restriction is 40" minimum... like Forrest Gump said, "...and that's all I have to say about that.."
