We had a wonderful father’s day weekend trip to Disneyland this weekend as did plenty of other people who were at the park this weekend as it was pretty busy. Lot’s of us dads got to spend the day at the park!
Kevin, who has written several articles on Mickey News met up with us Saturday morning and hung around with us for most the day. It was great meeting him and the family and I really enjoyed his company all day. We got to ride the Hollywood Tower of Terror a few times together and had a blast.
We learned a lesson as well with regards to the Tower of Terror. If you go to Disneyland’s official web site you can download a game to win a free FastPass to the ToT ride for up to six people in your party. Well me being the computer guy that I am discovered that if you un-install and re-install the game it will give you a new serial number on your voucher. I assumed that I could use all the vouchers and get several sets of FastPasses for the ride, but I found out that they give them out and scan your ticket or Annual Pass so you can only get one per ticket ever! So I spent Saturday afternoon giving out my other vouchers to random people around the park.
We were also able to ride Peter Pan for the first time since it had been closed for renovation. I must say, Good job Disney Imagineers!! You did a wonderful job making the ride feel new again. The new, brighter, stars in the Skull Island flyby were FANTASTIC!!! The whole ride just seems new and crisp.
We still didn’t make it to the Snow White musical on this trip, but I am going to try and put it on the top of the list for the next trip down. I have heard so many good things about it I really want to see it. It just seems that time goes by at such an accelerated pace when your in the park you always run out of time for everything you want to do.
One thing we did get to do, that I haven’t done in year, was ride in the Monorail, and better yet, we rode in the front with the Pilot. It was great and my two year old daughter had fun spotting all her favorite rides as we went by above them. This is something you have to do when you go there; it only takes about 10 minutes to go the complete circuit and its well worth the time. You have to ask to sit up front with the pilot, and they only have room for a total of five guests and the view is great up there.
All in all it was a great trip and we had a lot of fun, even if it was crowded. The lines were never that long, well other than for Splash Mountain, but even those lines averaged about 50 minutes.
