Intro:

Hello Disney Fans, hello one and all, as you are probably aware, the below is a quick sum-up and review of the spectacular Disney movie, Aladdin, but first, let me introduce myself.

As you most likely figured out, I love all things Disney... but what you didn't know is... I am also, a History buff, a Lord of the Rings fanatic, a sister to two semi-wonderful brothers. A daughter to two completely opposite parents, a friend to many, and a best friend to one. Now that we’ve covered that, let us move on to what you really care about. The following is my review on Aladdin, if by chance there is something I did not cover, that you would like me to give my opinion on, you have a question or comment, please feel free to email me. I will attempt to be swift in my response.

The Review

Overall Grade: A
Stars: 4.5

Story

A teenage orphan by the name of, yup, you guessed it, Aladdin lives by stealing and living on the streets. He can only imagine what it must be like to live in the grand palace that over shadows the city of Agrabah. On the other end of the story, the princess of that palace, Jasmine, feels trapped inside the small-protected world her father has kept her in. She then by chance meets Aladdin and sparks begin to fly, but when the evil Visor Jafar has Aladdin arrested and he encounters a magic genie and a flying carpet, things are bound to get complicated.

Story Grade: B+

Animation

Being only a wee babe at the time, I can only imagine how wowed show-goers must have been at the amazing animation of Aladdin, although in this day and age, the graphics might seem not as up to speed. I find it takes nothing away from the story or movie in general.

Animation Grade: B

Music/Songs

I'm a very tough cookie, and hard to please, especially in regards to music. But, though it pains me to say, I loved every word of every song in this movie, and believe me, that’s saying a lot. They are innocent, up beat, make-you-want-to-sing kind of songs that are just great for everyone! No complaints here.

Music Grade: A+

Characters

Throughout the movie we see a variety of characters come and go. Although some stick out more then others *cough* the Genie *cough*. All the characters are pretty well rounded and human-like. There are a few characters I would have liked to seen more of, for example, the Sultan, I love that little guy, but throughout you get a pretty good idea of each character's personality. My only objection would be Jasmine, I truly don't think we got to know her as well as we should have, but the Genie’s vibrant spirit and humor has kept this grade out of the garbage bin.

Character Grade: B-

Objectionable Content

How much objectionable content can be in a Disney animated feature you ask? Well I’m not one to judge if these truly are 'objectionable' so you be your own judge.

Language: Bozo, Stupid, Idiots, Fool, Jerk, Shut Up and Moron are all found being said in this movie. Also, there is a constant referral to the Eastern God "Ala"

Overall Review

My overall take on this movie is definitely said (written) with a smile. I love this film and will keep it to one day show my children; it is a true Disney Classic, not only for kids of all ages, but adults of all ages too. The Great songs, story line, characters and humor of this movie will keep you coming back again and again and I recommend it to anybody and everybody. Enjoy the Show!
