This week, Corey has an apology, and takes some time out to reflect on life, living, and the future of his column here at Mickey News.
Well, folks, it’s been a rough month for me. Nothing terrible has happened, mind you, except for the fact that it has been three weeks since I last posted an article here in my column. I’ll get straight to the point… I am just too busy to be a weekly columnist!
Last week, I e-mailed Gavin, the wonderful webmaster of this fine site and was ready to throw in the towel altogether. Being the understanding person that he is, he was willing to let me do so, but at the same time suggested that perhaps I should switch to a monthly format. I took his advice into consideration, and decided that I could probably give that a try.
So, I will now be posting articles on the first Friday of every month as I transition into my new monthly format. I hope you will join me on Friday, November 5th for the first installment in my new format! What will I be talking about, you ask? Well, I could finish up that series “Around the World in 8 Days” that I have been working on, but that trip seems like so long ago, and so much has changed, that it might seem a little out of date. So, I’ll probably just come up with something new altogether. Who knows!
So, just what is it that’s keeping me so busy, you ask? Here’s just a FEW things:
I’m currently in my final semester of college, taking a full load of classes (12 credit hours). That, as you might imagine, can keep me pretty busy. But, I’m also working full time (40+ hours a week) supervising an area of rides and attractions at a nearby family attraction. This time of year is especially busy for me, as I have to plan for and execute those plans for our annual Halloween and Christmas events. Furthermore, next month I’ll be gone for two weeks as I travel back down to Orlando to attend the 2004 Annual IAAPA Convention and Tradeshow. And finally, I’m actively pursuing post-college employment with the Walt Disney Company, specifically Walt Disney World. This is a task in it’s own right, since I’m not just a simple drive away from there. I have to carefully coordinate these things from about 1000 miles away! This means that I’m also working on making moving preparations to Central Florida should a job become available. Anyone who has ever moved should know what kind of work this entails!
So, yeah, I’ve got a lot going on at this point in my life. It’s not that I don’t enjoy writing for Mickey News, or that I don’t appreciate the fact that people enjoy reading my articles. It’s just that I’ve simply got too much going on right now to keep up with a weekly series (as these past 3 weeks have proven!). But I do appreciate your patience and understanding while I change to a monthly format. I promise I’ll keep the interesting articles flowing – just not quite as frequently!
Until next MONTH, I’ll see ya real soon!
