In December my mom and I went to Southern California to go to Disneyland and other places. My mom and I are big Disney fans. I’ve been once before and I was really looking forward to this trip. My mom had been planning this for a good 6 months. My dad is in Baghdad with the Army and my mom needed a break from worrying about him. My mom also has a lot of friends who also love Disneyland and were meeting up with us while we were there.
We went to meet one of my mom’s friends, Carla, who is a wedding photographer. Carla spent part of 5 days with us taking photos of my mom and me all over Disneyland and California Adventure Park. We came home with a CD full of about 900 pictures. This was very nice of her and now we have lots of pictures to remember our trip. Carla also introduced us to Disney Pin Trading, which was a lot of fun.
Our first day at the parks we went to California Adventure to ride the new Tower of Terror. That was pretty fun. You go up in a large elevator and get dropped really fast from the top. I buckled my seat so tight that I didn’t even come off of it. We also went on the Maliboomer, which is similar to the Tower of Terror only you go up really fast. I did go off my seat on that ride. The Maliboomer is now one of my favorite rides. After riding several rides we went to watch the Aladdin show, which was pretty good. Then we went to Disneyland to ride as many rides as we could.
Our second day, we went to Disneyland so we could meet up with some more of my moms friends. There were close to 20 of us altogether. We rode the Matterhorn about five times and rode on many of the Disneyland rides. After spending most of the day at Disneyland, we “hopped” over to California Adventure with our hopper pass. We ate at a place called Ariel’s Grotto and their food was pretty good. I had a great time with the friends.
The third day, we met again with our friends to eat at a place called Blue Bayou. This restaurant over looks the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Their food was also pretty good. Whenever a boat leaves the dock, it rumbles the restaurant floor and there was a shooting star that went across the sky every few minutes. After eating at the restaurant some of the group split off to go wait for the Candlelight Processional and the rest of us went on a lot of rides. We then went to California Adventure to ride Tower of Terror and Soarin’ Over California again before saying goodbye to our friends.
We then took a few days off from Disney and went to Sea World in San Diego and Knott’s Berry Farm, which is near Disneyland. We got to see Shamu, the dolphins and all the other exhibits at Sea World. I really like Sea World. The next day we went to Knott’s Berry Farm to ride some rides. We also watched some of the shows there. Knott’s wasn’t nearly as fun as I thought it would be.
Our last two days, we went back to Disneyland. We met with Carla again to go to California Adventure and take pictures. We went on as many rides as we could until Carla had to leave. We had a lot of fun watching the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, the new Snow White show and we went to Aladdin one more time. We also rode Splash Mountain about 10 times.
Our trip was really fun. Our friends were a blast. I can’t wait to go back again. Next time Mom and I are going to take my dad to Disneyland for his very first time. Carla has promised to hang out with us and take pictures. That will be so much fun!
