Monsters Inc. On Ice

Wow.....it's been a while since I've written. Well I took my son to see Monsters Inc. On Ice back on Feb. 17, 2005. If it is coming to your area, don't miss it! What a show.

I have been to almost every Disney On Ice show that makes it to our area in the last 5 years. And I must admit this one really impressed me. I felt like they left no stone unturned to recreate this fantastic story. Of course the Fab Five open the show; they invite out some skaters with the scream o meters and get the audience all crazy with screams, until the scream o meter reads full, then it's on with the show.

The costumes were really amazing they recreated the monsters exactly as they appear in the movie. The girl who played Boo was outstanding. They basically recreated the movie on ice and LIVE!

During the second act I was very impressed to see the part where the CDA and Mr. Waternoose order all the doors to be brought into the scare room, and all these doors linked to a track began coming in attached to a track on the ceiling, then the doors would lower and rise, I think there was at least 30 of them. Then if that wasn't enough, in comes Boo's door and to my surprise hanging from the ceiling on a motorized mover is not only the door but Boo and Sully standing with the door on like a platform, but there they were!

The stunts, including Randall attached on a platform riding the door on the ceiling, and fantastic skating, there is a trio who performs outrageous tricks on the ice during the scene when Mike and Sully get thrown out into the snow by Mr. Waternoose.

There were just so many scenes in the movie I kept thinking, how are they going to reenact that scene. And they would. The other part that was really impressive is the part where Mike and Sully have Boo, running from Randall when they go door to door linking them from Hawaii, Japan, Paris, and then back to Monsters Inc. They did this scene so brilliantly. I don't want to give it away for those of you who plan to go see it. But I was really impressed to see how they did this show.

The show was just by far one of the best Disney Ice shows we've seen. It's worth the price. The best souvenir was the show book that was $15.00 however it came with a blue hard hat, the Monsters Inc. hat the monsters wear when they are on the scare floor. I couldn't get my son to take it off his head!
