Beauty and the Beast - A Review
3/13/2005

For my third review, I have watched the beloved movie we all know: Beauty and the Beast. A Disney movie with a real moral; it’s the inside of a person (or beast in this matter) that truly matters. Now, let’s see this film in my opinion, enjoy!

Overall Grade: A
Stars: 4

Story

A small town girl named Belle wants so much more then the life she has, she wants love and adventure but with her only suitor being a self-centered jerk named Gaston, the life she dreams of seems impossible until one day her father goes off to a science fair, but is imprisoned in a gloomy castle by a horrible beast. Belle makes a trade with the beast, let her father go and she will stay in the castle, forever. Little does she know this will be the adventure she’s always hoped for.

Story Grade: B+

Animation

Even for today, the animation is still nice, especially a computer animated scene of Belle and Beast in the grand ballroom.

Animation Grade: B

Music/Songs

Every song was well thought out and it shows. The songs are placed nicely throughout the movie, starting with the great sing along Bonjour sung by Belle herself. With such great composers (those of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) I only expected the best and that’s what I was thrilled to get.

Music Grade: A

Characters

It seems we really get to know each character personally in this movie; we are with them as they grow and change. The Beast and Belle are great intense characters where as Lumiere the candelabra and Cogsworth the clock give great comic relief.

Character Grade: B+

Objectionable Content

How much objectionable content can be in a Disney animated feature you ask? Well I’m not one to judge if these truly are ‘objectionable’ so you be your own judge.

Language: A mild song about hurting the Beast and one use of the word stupid.

Overall Review

Great movie for young and old, it is truly a Disney Classic. I would not recommend this to extremely small children, seeing as the Beast could easily scare them, but that is my only objection. I highly encourage you all to watch this movie or if you’ve already seen it, dust it off and watch it again; it’ll be a whole new experience! One you’ll really enjoy.
