"All that...and a bag of chips..."

In an effort to keep you, my dearest Disney comrades, informed about the latest in Disney gadgetry I am going to do this article on the new Back To Basics Disney Popcorn Popper. My wife got this from my mom as an early birthday present, and let me tell you, it’s great!

We bought it at Target for around $39, but you can also find this little marvel at many other places; just do a 'Google' search for: "Disney Popcorn". Basically what you are going to get is a Mickey Mouse themed popcorn popper, that makes the best home made popcorn you’ve ever tasted.

Using the popper is simple. First you dump in the oil, the desired amount of popcorn, put the cover on, plug it in and hit the button. Now you watch the little arm inside move the kernels about and enjoy the wonderful aroma of the popcorn as it heats up. In a couple minutes it will begin to pop, and once it starts it’s fast and furious, with very satisfying popping noises (unlike microwave popcorn).

The whole unit is designed to be as self contained as possible. The red lid, which snaps onto the clear cover, can be used as a measuring cup, and the clear cover can be inverted to be used as a popcorn bowl. There is also a little slot on the top of the cover which you can put butter onto. As the popcorn pops, the butter melts and drips down onto the swirling popped corn, giving you the perfect buttered popcorn; no more soggy pieces.

The popper is a snap to clean, just use a damp cloth to clean the interior and exterior, never submerse it in water. Oh! Did I mention, the feet? In an effort to make this popcorn popper as Disney as possible, the brains behind the design have added large Mickey Mouse feet to the popper, added to the red color of the popper itself, and you’ve got a very Mickey looking popcorn popper.

If you like popcorn, or if you are just a Mickey Mouse fan, then this is one movie appliance that you simply cannot do without.

Check back next time when I will discuss the Disney Smoothie Maker, which incidentally, was another early birthday present.

Well that’s an earful – until next time, I’m Scott Short
