“Love Makes the World Go ‘Round”

Today, I have a special article for you all. This article, while not necessarily about Disney, concerns something that (obviously) was very close to Walt’s heart – families. When I say families I should say that I am focusing mostly on mothers today, after all, this article today is dedicated to all the mothers all over the world.

Disney is a family oriented company, this much is obvious. From the movies, to the parks themselves, the focus on family is readily apparent. I’ve yet to come across a Disney movie that is loaded with swearing and sex, or taken a trip to Disney World and seen raunchy behaving workers, or non-child friendly attractions. In fact, everything I’ve ever seen promotes an ideal family experience, but if we look a little deeper at the parks, we may find something surprising.

If your family is like mine, then while you were running from ride to ride with your father, your mom was calmly carrying all the bags, sweaters, and other things that you brought along for the day. I’ve taken many trips to Disney World, I’ve gone with my family and others, and each time it’s the same, mom carries everything, and is the calm one. Why then does mom go to the park? Why does she put up with being a coat rack, and luggage trolley? Well besides that your mom loves you, it’s probably because the Disney parks were designed to have something for everyone. Have you ever wondered why there are so many flowers everywhere? I have no doubt that these were put in such prominent spots so that mothers could enjoy looking at them while they carried all your junk from ride to ride.

If an international corporation can see the value of your mom, and her importance, hopefully you do too. If not, maybe it’s time to think about it. Mother’s day is on the calendar only once a year, but that doesn’t mean it’s only once a year. Indeed, mother’s day is everyday!

Moms have a full time job at home, and many mothers balance that with a full time job outside of the home. I don’t know how they do it. Mom was always there when you scraped your knee, or needed cupcakes made for your birthday party at school. Mom was there when you had your first break-up, mom was there when you had your first date, and when you went to prom. There is a saying that behind every great man there is a woman, well I’d say that there are 2; a wife and a mother. Where would we be without our moms? Granted we don’t always get along, and sometimes we may fight, or our moms may give us advice that we don’t like, advice that might even make us mad, but that’s only because they love us so much. You always know where you stand with your mother, and if that’s not worth anything, then I don’t know what is.

If you lost your mother, then is should be a time to remember her above all else, maybe go to a nice dinner somewhere and order something that she would have liked, and think of her while you eat. If you have a stepmother, then think about how much harder it was for her to step in and be a mother to you.

This is the time to think of our moms, and to thank them for all they’ve done for us over the years. So, even though my mom doesn’t have internet access, and won’t be able to read this… Thank you Mom, for all you’ve done for me. Thank you mom far taking me to Disney World when I was just a baby, and starting me on this great Disney loving path that has led me to sharing my thoughts with all these other Disney-fanatics.

Happy Mother’s Day!
