At the Disney Clothiers, I was looking from the sidewalk and noticed something familiar but surreal. It is a 'diorama' or window dressing of Walt Disney’s Fire House Apartment!! I looked at it and for a minute it made me feel deja vu. (Yes, I have been in the Apartment) but then I looked and it wasn't my eyes deceiving me, it is intended as a mock up of the exclusive apartment!!
Featured along side is a ONE TIME press picture of Mr. and Mrs. Disney and their grand children, the first and ONLY that Mr. Disney would allow of his family in the apartment taken in there for a cover of a magazine, I think it was the Saturday Evening Post or Time or Life ... one of the popular magazines in the 50's.
I have always known that the picture of opening day is in a small shadow box just outside the Tobacco shop. Step up onto the butterscotch colored steps, just outside from the Magic shop and the Tobacco shop and you will see it. Cool!! Shows kids running like mad to get through the Castle!! Real cute!!
Oh, and the train inside the Main Street Train Station is actually THE ONE that Mr. Disney had running around his home in the backyard!! More about the clock in the train station later....
