Top Attractions at the Magic Kingdom
10/12/2005

By: Kim

There are many rides to choose from in the Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World Resort. But which one should you ride. There are thrillers like Splash Mountain and tamer rides like It's A Small World. I will describe some of the top rides (at least I think they are) and try to give you a better idea and view of them, coming from somebody who has rode these rides thousands of times.

The first ride is Splash Mountain. This ride is located in Frontierland and always has a long wait. Be sure to get on that ride early to beat the crowd or try to get a fastpass if they haven't all ran out. If you want to get soaked, you must sit in the front of the log. You can still get wet while not sitting in the front, but if you are looking to get soaked with water, you must sit in the front. Trust me, I sat in the front and I was drenched in water. Don't forget to smile pretty for the camera, which is on your left side as you go down that fifty-two foot drop.

Another great ride is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, also known as the People Mover. Many people overlook this ride because they think it isn't exciting or they don't see a point to the ride, but it is a really great ride. When you're in Tomorrowland and you have nothing to do or you are waiting for it to be time to use your fastpass, you can go on the People Mover. There is never a long wait and you can go on it to cool off. You go in air conditioned parts and because of how it's moving you get a little breeze. Plus, you can see the original model of EPCOT behind a glass screen that Walt Disney created. So this ride may not be thrilling, when you need a break from the hot weather or the busy crowds you can just hop onto this ride. There are also some great photo shots as you ride the People Mover. You can get a good view of Tomorrowland and the castle at points on the ride.

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best attractions at the Magic Kingdom, and I think a lot of people would agree with me. It is a ride for the whole family and the song in it will get stuck in your head, but at least it isn't an annoying song. All the pirate animatronics look so real, like they just came out of that era. There is a small drop in the beginning of the ride and after that you get whisked away into the pirates lives. The ride is fun filled from the second you get onto the boat to the second you step off it.

Cinderella's Golden Carousel is a classic Disney ride that has to be ridden. It is right in the middle of Fantasyland and there are many horses to choose from. I suggest riding on Cinderella's very own horse. It is the only horse with a gold ribbon on its tail and the horse next to it is the Prince's. You can also try to pull the sword out from the stone that is right by Cinderella's Carousel. This is a great family ride and it hardly has a long wait.

Finally, this next ride just got refurbished and is looking better than ever. It's A Small World and is located in Fantasyland too and it also, like Cinderella's Carousel, never has a long wait. There are many countries and continents represented in this ride. There are many dolls in this ride showing you the countries they are supposed to be from. They are wearing clothes someone from their country might be wearing and are set in a background of where they are from. Personally, my favorite doll is the doll riding the surfboard. Now the song might get stuck in your head… wait might, no it will, but that is no reason to not include this ride in your must see attractions at the Magic Kingdom.

Now I know I didn't include all the attractions that are at the Magic Kingdom, but these are the attractions that I thought were the best at that park.

These are only my opinion and you may have different opinions about which attractions should be on this list. Although, I did leave out Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Peter Pan's Flight, which all deserve to be on this list. And I still have time to describe other attractions at the parks. I will have many more articles dealing with Magic Kingdom attractions and all other Magic Kingdom knowledge and tips.
