I have decided to write a Halloween article dealing with Disney. I'm in the Halloween mood and after all, Halloween isn't that far away. Now when you normally think of Disney you don't usually associate that word with Halloween or being scary, but Disney can have a lot to do with Halloween, and you might be surprised how much. I will include some of my own past stories dealing with Disney being part of my Halloween.
Halloween costumes can be Disneyfull. I was John Smith from Pocahontas in kindergarten. I had a hat, a shirt, and everything. I was also a pirate in second grade. After riding on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride I decided that I wanted to be one for Halloween.
I'm sure there are many costumes from Disney movies that any child could be. A princess, Buzz Lightyear, Aladdin, etc., there are many costumes to choose from.
I wonder what I will be this year?
The Haunted Mansion is just screaming Halloween. Ghosts, witches, spiders and more are located at the attraction yearlong. The Tower of Terror can even be associated with Halloween. An elevator getting struck by lightning and the guests disappearing, how spooky is that! Disney also gets into the Halloween spirit by decorating attractions around Halloween time. One of them being The Haunted Mansion. There is also Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party at the parks. The characters will get dressed up, there will be scary storytelling, and you could go trick-or-treating throughout the park. I wish I could go to that, although I think I am too old, but now that I think of it, nobody is ever too old for Halloween.
There are even Halloween Disney movies you could watch on the 31st. A Nightmare Before Christmas has become extremely popular over the last few years. That is a good movie to rent for Halloween. One of my favorite Halloween movies is Hocus Pocus. I love that movie and it's perfect for any child at any age. I also remember watching a Disney cartoon many years ago called Halloween Haunts. There were three different short cartoons on the tape, one dealing with Pluto being scared and judged by cats, another with Goofy, Mickey, and Donald checking out a haunted house, and the last one featuring Hewey, Dewey, and Louie going trick-or-treating, which was my favorite one. This video may be a few years old (fourteen) but it has great cartoons on it. If you can find it, I highly suggest checking it out. And finally, if you can not see the ride on Halloween, rent it. By this I mean The Haunted Mansion movie. Those movie suggestions are for the younger children, now, for the teenagers who still participate in the holiday, try checking out a little more scarier films. Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, anything along those lines will give you a Halloween fright. Don't forget to check out the 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family starting October 19.
They will be showing many scary movies every night until the big day. The first movie being shown will be The Sixth Sense, a movie probably not suggested for younger children and since I haven't seen that movie yet, I'll probably watch it.
Halloween is a fun holiday at any age. All you have to do is dress up to get free candy, who wouldn't like that holiday. I love Halloween, always have and always will, I don't like the spider part of it, but I still love it. Happy Halloween everyone!
