I know I already did an article like this where I talk about Disney things and how they pertain to my holiday, but that was Halloween. It is now Christmas time and a different holiday, so I'll just mention a few things of how Disney is a part of Christmas.
Christmas is the season of spending time with your family and receiving gifts or making yummy cookies or wrapping a gift for a family member. While it is bitterly cold outside, you could snuggle up in a warm blanket, grab your delicious cookies you baked and pop a Christmas film into the DVD (or VHS) player and just relax. I do have a few suggestions of what films to watch. All Disney Christmas related, of course. The first one would be Beauty and the Beast – The Enchanted Christmas. This movie is when Belle is still trying to win over the Beast's heart and thinks that bringing some holiday cheer to the castle will bring him up. The villain in the story is the mean pipe organ, and unfortunately for Belle, the Beast is friends with him. This movies isn't quite as good as the original, but it is still a very well written story. Another movie would be Mickey's Christmas Carol. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge and being visited by the three ghosts never gets old. Around Christmas time you have to watch A Christmas Carol, why not pick the Disney version instead. Scrooge Mcduck portrays Ebenezer Scrooge perfectly and Mickey Mouse plays the part of Bob Crackett. There are many other Disney Christmas movies to choose from, but if you're just looking for some Christmas movies, tune into ABC Family. They have started their twenty-five days of Christmas and they have some good movies on their schedule.
I really wish I could go to Florida for the winter. It would be so much warmer there than freezing Illinois, plus I could always stop by Disney World and see the Christmas decorations they have up. They are all decked out with rows of garland, beautiful lights, Christmas trees, you name it and they probably have it. Most of the resorts have also participated is the holiday cheer by putting up their decorations. I once watched a television special about Disney World during the holiday season on the TRAVEL channel. Some of the resorts get very into the holiday spirit. They had huge trees and big delicious looking gingerbread houses. But let us not forget the Very Merry Mickey Christmas Parade taking place at the Magic Kingdom. If you are not one of the lucky ones to be at Disney World while it is happening, be sure to watch it on Christmas morning on ABC. I know I will.
Don't know what to get a Disney lover for Christmas? Have no fear, the Disney catalogue is here. Yes, there are many good gift ideas in the catalogue or you could go shopping at the Disney store. You could even get teenagers something from the Disney store. What teenager did not love Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean? And everybody loves Finding Nemo, even if the teenager doesn't admit it, they still found it laugh out loud funny.
My holiday gift already came early for me. I saw a preview for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Now this movie won't be coming out for a while, but in the preview it looked as good or even better than the first one. I can not wait to see it.
'Tis the season to be jolly, so spend it time with your loved ones. This special time only comes around once a year, and I know it can sometimes be stressful. But try as much as you can to just take a break, relax, and enjoy the holiday season. Happy Holidays everyone!
