As you know, the Pirates of The Caribbean attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have been down as they are updating the effects and adding a new character to the show, Jack Sparrow, and are scheduled to re-open in late June and early July respectively. With most Disney attractions they have what is known as a "soft opening" that happens before the actual main opening of an attraction and we have been told that the POTC at Disneyland should start having a soft opening as of Monday June 5th.

Soft Openings are when they open the ride at random times and days to have guests preview the attraction, as well as test the attraction under the real stresses of the guests. It is a great way to work out a few of the bugs and to build the excitement for the attraction. You can ask the cast member that is stationed at the entrance of the attraction if they are planning any soft openings of the ride that day and they will be happy to tell you. During soft openings the attraction could be shut down at any time and in fact my break down while you are on it, so be prepared for delays and unexpected walking tours of the back stage area of the attraction.

If in fact they do start to offer soft openings of POTC on June 5th, Mickey News will be there to take photos and report on all the new and wonderful updates done to this classic Disney attraction. We are very excited to see what is new and improved with it.

Remember, this is for the POTC at Disneyland in California. I would think the soft opening for the one at Walt Disney World would happen a little after this date, as their projected opening date was a week or so later than the one at Disneyland.

Of course, if our source is wrong about this, they just might be dunked in the Mayor's well in POTC!
