Disney's New "Play And Dine" At MGM Studios
6/30/2006

Walt Disney World is the premier vacation spot in the World. It is famous for so many things it's hard to mention them all! Their famous attractions and rides are right on top of the list, not to mention the Broadway-style shows and of course the best fireworks display to be found anywhere. But if you ask the kids what their favorite Disney experience is more than half will say the Character meet and greets and the Character Dining Meals. Here the kids get to meet and greet their favorite Disney characters and get autographs and have pictures taken with their favorite stars! Some of our favorite Character Dining restaurants are "Chef Mickey's" in Disney's Contemporary Hotel or "Goofy's Liberate your appetite Dinner" at the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom.

Here at the MGM Studios Hollywood and Vine restaurant a new "Interactive" Play and Dine character Breakfast and Lunch was introduced on June 25th, 2006. Based on the characters from the "Playhouse Disney" series for preschoolers, the characters from Jo-Jo's circus and the Little Einstein's will be on hand not only to meet the kids, have photos taken and sign autograph books, they will be assisted by two singers known as "The Playhouse Pals" who will every 15 minutes give live performances for 5 minutes where they will have the kids sing along with Jo-Jo and Goliath and Leo and June all their favorite Playhouse Disney songs. Quincy and Annie will also be on hand for the lunch crowd.

This new "Interactive" approach to the Character Dining meals is great as the parents can also sing along with the children and become more a part of the experience than just take pictures of the kids with the characters. There are also crayons and paper on the tables for the kids to draw and color. The kids will enjoy the sing-a-longs as the "Pals" get the children involved and the characters are dancing around, making it a special treat for all. And of course, between the singing, the characters are going table to table giving out autographs, having pictures taken with the children and making all the kids feel they are a special part of the festivities.

The buffet breakfast hours are from 8:00am to 11:20am and the fare includes fruit, pastries, breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles and frittatas, assorted toppings. Cost is $22.99 for ages 10 and up and $12.99 for ages 3 to 9.

The lunch buffet includes salads, deli meats, vegetables, chicken, salmon, pot roast and fishcakes. There is of course kids favorites like Mac and Cheese and chicken fingers, and a soft serve ice cream dispenser . Lunch will cost $24.99 for ages 10 and up and $13.99 for ages 3 to 9. Reminder: There is no character dining for Dinner. Reservations are suggested. Call 407-WDW-DINE. 407-939-3463.
