Dining At Disney...Liberty Tree Tavern

Anyone who has read any of my articles knows that next to going to the parks, I love to eat at the parks! My wife and I have made a goal of eating at every table and counter-service restaurant on property. And believe me; we have made good headway in that direction. One of the biggest problems that we have found in our endeavor is that trying to eat at a different place each time is difficult because there are some restaurants we enjoy so much; we end up eating in them time and time again!

Case in point is the "Liberty Tree Tavern" located in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. My favorite type of restaurant is the buffet style, where you can eat all you want whereas my wife prefers to be waited on. So the Liberty Tree is a nice compromise. It's a family-style restaurant where you can eat as much as you want, and the food is served right at the table as my wife enjoys.

Although I never gave thought to writing restaurant reviews, I have read many reviews and even spoke to people who have had different experiences in many of the places we have dined at, so I decided to express our "Opinions" on these establishments. First of all, we have dined at the Liberty Tree at least 10 times, and I can honestly say the experience was always the same…Fantastic!

A night in a Disney Restaurant is more than just "How good the food was", it is a cumulating of many things; Service, atmosphere, attention to detail, value for your money, and in the case of a Disney Character Dinner, how often do the characters appear at your table. Well, the Liberty Tree comes through on all accounts. First, the menu: You start off with their Declaration Salad, tossed greens (Which taste if just picked) with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing which has to be tasted to believe! Now we start with my favorite part… the Main Course: This is the Patriot's Platter which has beef, roasted turkey, Smoked pork loin, veggies, mashed potatoes, herb stuffing and Stouffer's macaroni and cheese, and of course fresh baked rolls and hot gravy. Now this is served family-style, the portions depending on the size of your party, brought to your table by colonial-period dressed servers. Now I'm not a big fan of white meat, I always thought it was too dry, but not at the Liberty Tree! This thin sliced breast meat cuts with a fork and is moist and tasty. In fact, the only thing we can say about the fare is that all the times we ate here, it was the same, hot and delicious and when you finish, your server will be happy to bring you more.

We love the atmosphere here, the tables are a dark pinewood, reminiscent of an old Colonial tavern, and the dining area is also decorated in period trappings. The wait staff is friendly, always smiling and they will joke around with you, making you feel right at home. And if you have little ones, they go out of their way to make them feel special. When you order your drinks. (Coke, orange, lemonade, birch beer, sprite, diet or regular, Coffee, tea, hot tea, regular or decaf, cocoa, milk, either low-fat, skim or whole) you will find that they are constantly refilled, the servers here really get around, even when it gets super busy.

Now the Characters! We have Goofy, Minnie, Pluto and Chip and Dale. No matter how busy it was when we ate there, the characters made no less than "Two" trips to our table. They were always around and the cameras were flashing all night! I mention this because we are two adults with no children, and Pluto one time snuck up behind me and starting licking the back of my head, all the tables around started laughing, it is just an example of how the "Magic" is at the Liberty Tree Tavern!

If you desire for an additional charge there is : bottled water, cappuccino, orange juice and Espresso. Desserts included are a Warm cherry cobbler and vanilla ice cream. There are additional desserts also available for an additional charge. Collectors mugs can also be purchased, . Just ask your server. Prices are $27.99 for adults and ages 3-9, $12.99. I suggest reservations, in the busy season, it is almost impossible to get a seating without one. This is a great value for the money, delicious food, ALL you can eat, and the magic of the Disney Characters, it just does not get any better than this!
