Dream Job
3/14/2007

By: Kim

As I am sitting here, wondering what I can do because my school had a snow day today, I thought that I should write an article. I haven't written an article in a while, so I decided that now would be the perfect time. My mother printed out an article online talking about Disney Dream Jobs. I haven't heard much about this so I am assuming that this has something to do with the Disney celebration of Year of a Million Dreams. I read over the list of jobs that were offered: pirate, princess in waiting, Jungle Cruise skipper, park parade performer, and Haunted Mansion butler. It says that this is at Disneyland, but I will broaden my imagination to Disney World too. What job would I like to have at Disney World…

Monorail driver, now that would be an exciting job. Staying in an air-conditioned vehicle all day while driving the monorail. My family and I sat up in the front with the driver before and it does seem a little hard to drive. I don't know how much training is involved, but I am assuming that a lot would be needed. There is also a great view from the monorail, you can see a few of the resorts, Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom. I would like to drive the monorail with the red stripe, red being my favorite color. But driving any monorail seems like a cool job.

If I could work as a ride operator, I would like to either work at The Haunted Mansion or The Tower of Terror. Both would be fun places to work at. Both require an interesting costume and some good acting skills. You must show no emotion and act very scary. I wouldn't mind being a bellhop for The Tower of Terror, although, hearing the screams every few minutes may get a little annoying. I wouldn't mind working as a maid at The Haunted Mansion either.

Another fun place to work at would be Star Tours attraction in MGM Studios. Now I am a big Star Wars fan, so I think working there would be awesome. I could be by C-3PO and R2D2 the whole day. I also wouldn't mind the outfits, those blue and orange jumpers. Some may find them ugly, but not me, blue and orange are my school colors, so I am used to seeing them everyday. Plus, it is air conditioned, but I guess a majority of the jobs at Disney World are in air conditioning.

Most girls would want to be Cinderella, but not me. I would prefer to be Belle. Jasmine is my favorite princess but I look more like a Belle, I have long brown hair. If I could be Belle, I would. I would get all dressed up in her costume and get my hair done, I would try to look and act just like her. But I wouldn't want to be in a parade, I would rather sign autographs and take photos with the guests. I could create my own personalized Belle signature and talk about how my beastly Prince is up at the castle reading some interesting books. I would much rather interact with the guests and talk to them, then being in the parade.

There are many more jobs and places I wouldn't mind working at in Disney World, but I only described a few. These are only imaginary dream jobs, while my actual dream job is become a teacher. But, I don't mind dreaming about working at Disney World. An extra bonus would be seeing the beautiful Florida palm trees and working in nice weather, much better weather in Florida than in Chicago.
