Last Friday I went to Hong Kong Disneyland as this was the first day of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas celebration. I was at the park nine hours, so I had the chance to have several cups of coffee.
Hong Kong Disneyland has what appears to be a bit hurting when it comes to use the knowledge and technology of Disney. For example, last years Halloween event had one room with some foam cut outs that well, simply sucked. This years Halloween even had a haunted motel done in the style of the Haunted Mansion attractions around the world. Here at Hong Kong Disneyland we do not have the Haunted Mansion attraction as yet. The story line at the haunted motel was a bit strange, but this new effort was a great improvement over last year.
Mickey's Christmas 2007 celebration this year at Hong Kong Disneyland is again, a great improvement over last year, and last year was a good show for sure. There are more but not enough yet, decorations on Main Street U.S.A. All of the characters were dressed in their Christmas garb. The parade in my opinion was cute, but again an improvement over last year. Then it started to snow on Main Street U.S.A.! I just think that only Disney could make it snow here in Hong Kong. It is so much great fun, and to watch the kid's faces when it snows is wonderful.
It is our winter here in Hong Kong now. This is the best time of the year in Hong Kong because our winters have no rain, and the temperature is cooler than the hot and humid summers. It also gets dark at about 4:30pm where in the summertime it is not really dark until 6:30pm. We all gathered in front of the castle to await Mickey to light up the castle to what looks like a castle of ice, or the castle being completely covered in diamonds. When we entered the park we were given 3D glasses to view the lights. When we looked through the 3D glasses all of the lights looked exactly like snowflakes. When Mickey waved his wand to light up the castle 100%, this was something that I have never seen at Disney. It is simply wonderful! Disney has outdone themselves again with the best of the best. I will go and see this again & again for sure.
The construction of our "It's A Small World" is proceeding well with an expected opening for spring 2008. It's really taking shape now, and I cannot wait for this "E" ticket attraction to open so I can sing that song again for the next 20 years.
I will return back to Hong Kong Disneyland on Monday to pin trade.
Remember that every day is a magic day!
