| So when was the last time you went outside. No, I mean really went outside your house and looked around. Besides going straight to the car or taking out the garbage, when did you really explore the world around you? After you read this article, I dare you to try it. I bet you might find something that you didn’t expect. Perhaps a little magic?
I am a writer. I’m also a bookkeeper, a photographer, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and an in-law. I have a busy life. But I always find time to explore the outdoors. Now I will admit part of my love for the outdoors is mainly because outdoor photography is my specialty, but I also find peace when I’m sitting in the grass waiting for a bee to gracefully find it’s way to a flower’s pollen. To me, that’s magic.
So is that the magic I was taking about? Nope. Magic it was to me, but it’s not Disney Magic! So follow me out to the great outdoors and start looking around. Look everywhere. The flowers, the cans that are standing in the street, or the shrubs in your yard. Look at the berries in the trees. Look everywhere. If you’re patient and look hard enough, you might find three circles (they don’t have to be perfectly round) that are shaped in a triangle. Looks like you’ve found a “Hidden Mickey”. Great! You’re halfway there!
Halfway? Yes, halfway. It’s only so much to find a “Hidden Mickey” in your own world, but then you have to remember the magic. I’ll give you an example. I’m sure you’ve already noticed that the companion picture is a patch of clovers. See the one circled? Looks a lot like a Mickey doesn’t it. This picture was taken about two weeks after my latest Walt Disney World trip. I wasn’t looking for anything Disney related at all. Instead, I was working on my portfolio by photographing a group of flowers. Next to the garden where I was working was a patch of clovers. It brought back a memory of my childhood when my brother and I would look for four leaf clovers. Seeing this abundant patch, I couldn’t resist. I sat down and began my search. I hadn’t been looking long when I noticed something. The three leaf clovers had an uncanny resemblance to my favorite mouse. I remembered I had spent a good part of my trip searching for Hidden Mickeys (I might add I found quite a few). Why did my search have to end there? I smiled, picked up my camera, found the perfect “Mickey” and I proudly show it to you here in all its glory.
I have found many more “Hidden Mickeys” since then and I will share them with you as I find them, but I also want you to share with me! Send me your “Hidden Mickeys”. All I ask is that you find them outside of any Disney property. Also, tell us how you found them.
So remember, the next time you walk outside, don’t just go straight to the car or garbage can. Stop. Look around. Find the magic around you and smile.
