#1. Get ready for work.
Shower and shave, then jump into a pair of cut-offs, tee-shirt, and flip-flops.
#2. Drive to work.
I'd rather face other cast members behind the wheel than deal with out of state tourists any day! I take the back entrance to Magic Kingdom cast parking.
#3. Take a Disney bus to the tunnel entrance.
Ahh, a scenic ride by food production, central shops, the power-plant, and the monorail shops. Doesn't get any better than this.
#4. Go to wardrobe to change.
Custodial whites is the best "costume" in the park. You can work at any location at the park without being out of theme.
#5. Walk the utilidor to the Custodial office.
This is where I take a detour to the cafeteria for a cup of coffee, then on to the office.
#6. Clock in.
You use your laminated cast member I.D. with a bar code. Punch clock-in on the electronic clock and slide your card through the slot. Presto! You're legal.
#7. Check with the office clerk to confirm your schedule.
Here's where you get pulled from your original location to some other location that requires a costume change! Back to wardrobe you go.
#8. Get your pan & broom from your locker and report to your location.
Show up at the Custodial equipment room to view your area schedule. Here, you moan and whine to your supervisor over which round of trash you do and whether or not you get your lunch before your breaks.
#9. Sweep your area.
If you don't keep your body fluids up by drinking plenty of water in the summer months, you won't make it!
#10. Take your assigned breaks and lunches.
Think high calories! You will use what you have and then some you wish you had!
#11. Do a trash round.
This is where you are often mistaken by guests as an ice-cream vendor while pushing a big cart full of garbage can containers. Heh-heh-heh, which flavor would you like folks, I got it all here!
#12. Finish your schedule.
After a trash-round, parade clean-up, castle forecourt show clean-up, sick guest clean-up, locating lost children, locating lost parents, and spill-rounds, you crawl back to the office to clock out.
#13. Agree to extend.
If you are a sucker for punishment and love to torture yourself in the name of overtime, you could agree to work more hours during the busy season.
#14. Walk time!
After clocking out, the company gives you twenty minutes to dress back out and beat it off the premises. No argument from me!
