There is “TALK” of the Park closing for Mondays (and possibly Tuesdays too) just like in the earlier (pre Mr. Eisner days) since the attendance is down ( cost-effectiveness) also to allow refurbishments to be performed in regular hours by all the Tradesmen required.
Painting, Lighting – to include light bulb washing (makes for pretty pictures in the evening), Resurfacing, Decorating, Carpentry, Flooring, Sound, (Stage shows, Big Band Stage, music/dialogue in Audio Animatronic Attractions, recorded spiels, I do so LOVE the sounds in Disneyland!!), flume water levels, fountains (always *sparkling*!! Cleaning, and Attraction inspection and the never forgotten LANDSCAPING!!
Closing the park for a day, or two, a week would allow that maintenance to be performed in an intense method without detracting from the Show – Would you like to see painting going on (and smell it too?) while standing next to the Matterhorn, with your Churro? Or worrying that you may not find a seat because the benches have been coated with new paint that same morning? Or the New Orleans Square Fountain is empty of water and is producing a stale odor before power washing? Or that the Pirates of the Caribbean is closed for air conditioning maintenance? When you were really dying to go on it and felt you paid the admission, but 'nothing else 'good' ' is open?
Well a big Show like Disneyland is a tough act to follow and to keep it going requires so MANY hours of labor, skilled trades, and ACCESSIBILTY!! So, if it should come to be true, let's don't call/gatecrash/whine/send nasty e-mails or go down to City Hall with yer 'hair on fire' and tell them "I came all the way from..... and can't BELIEVE you didn't have it open for just ME!!
So many 'concerns' have been made by Guests that the Park has fallen away from its stellar entertainment style. So let 'em take the time to come up shinin' like a new penny!
REMEMBER, if ya work that hard at a goal, eventually you achieve it, and it would likely go back to 'business as usual'. So if it comes to pass, let 'em get in there and do it, and to all of you "Disney Purists" I am sure you will understand. Remember, it was originally closed on Mondays!!
Aren't we all at WORK earning the money to buy our Fantasia ice cream cones, Mouse ears, Churros, Sweatshirts of Minnie, and most importantly: MAGIC TRICKS, GOOFY HATS, AND MICKEY GLOVES??? (Oh Fantasia Ice Cream is Burgundy Cherry, Banana and Pistachio with candied bits of Pineapple, too!!) Pink, yellow and green!! LOVE IT!!
So, Kev, if they didn't tell you on your Tour, I hope that helps!!
See you at the Flag Pole for Retreat with my passle of kids. I am the biggest kid of all!! And REMEMBER EVERYONE… stop, put your hand over your Heart, don't move, don't speak, except to sing along the National Anthem, set an example of respect for the Flag to your children, and be happy that we live in the United States of America!!
