Perhaps it was not such a good idea for your movie reviewer to consider BOTH "Inside Deep Throat" and "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" in the same week (Picks & Pans Movies February 21, 2005), as seeing the first seems to have skewed her opinion of the second. Why else would she even bring up something as absurd as "Why is Pooh, who wears a top, always pantless?" Hello? I am sure most children understand and accept these loveable characters for what they are: animated toys! Is the reviewer truly concerned that teddy bears, kangaroos, tigers (or, in this case, Tiggers) wear little or no clothing? Is there concern about plush genetalia? These are TOYS! The rest of the review was of no real value to the majority of the movie-going public to whom this film is directed at: parents and their children. If the reviewer was familiar at all with the E.E. Milne story, or the past 40 years of Disney Poohology, she would be familiar with WHY "there are mommies but no daddies in the wood?" If not, why bother with this pithy, condescending, trite review of a movie? And who really cares if Rabbit rolls his ears up in curlers at night? Do I sense some homophobia? Or, perhaps the reviewer was unduly traumatized by Bugs Bunny dressed in drag kissing Elmer Fudd in the Warner Bothers cartoons of her youth? Seriously, if you intend to do the reading public a service by offering valid reviews of films (yes, even the rare Family films, though I know most of the "sophisticated" critics HATE them), please try to be objective and do not treat us as if we are morons.

I'm betting the "People" folks do not have the intestinal fortitude to print that diatribe!
