Timing

Timing is everything in Disney World. What time of year to go to the parks at, what days of the weeks, when to get an early spot to watch the parade, what time to ride an attraction, etc. I'll give you some tips on when to watch the parades at Disney World and when to ride some attractions. Now I can't guarantee that all of these tips will work but they have always worked for me.

When to watch a parade and which one? At Magic Kingdom they have the daytime parade and the electrical parade at night. If someone has never been to Disney World, then they could watch both parades, but if there is not enough time to watch both, then I suggest to just watch the electrical parade. Both of the parades are practically the same, but the electrical parade has lights on the floats and costumes with lights on them and I think that it looks prettier with the lights on them.

A good place to watch the parades are in Liberty Square. It is not that crowded back there because a lot of people want to see the parade on Main Street with the castle in the backdrop. If someone wants to watch the parade on Main Street, I suggest getting there early. At least an hour before to get a good view because it can get crowded very early. That goes for both day and night time parades. Now if there are two electrical parades at night, go to the second one. A lot of people would have already seen the first one and left the park. It is better than riding an attraction before the parade, watching the parade, and then going to find another attraction with a short enough line before the park closes. Just ride the rides and then watch the second parade and then leave.

Timing to ride an attraction is a bit difficult. The ride could be broken down or the weather can both effect trying to get on a ride. I'd suggest getting FastPasses for some rides and wait in line for others, even if they are offered for that ride. People should get a FastPass as soon as possible before they are all gone. Definitely get a FastPass for Splash Mountain and wait in line for Thunder Mountain. After you ride Thunder, it'll probably be time to ride Splash (depending on how many FastPasses were gotten before you.) Now you have two of the busiest rides out of the way. It's a good idea to ride a popular ride before or during a parade. There won't be a lot of people waiting in line and it will go a lot faster. I have rode Thunder Mountain during the electrical parade before and there was not even a long wait. It's also a good idea to ride some rides right before the park closes. This is a very good idea in Fantasyland. You might be able to get on A Small World and the Carousal twenty minutes before the park closes. In later articles, I'll go in greater details about different attractions.

Also, people always say to get to the parks right when they open. People don't have to do that. You can come a little later and still have time to do the things you planned on doing. Once you go to Disney World at least once, the next time you go you will know what to do and know the best times to see a parade or ride an attraction. You would already have an experience there and know what times are good for you to do things. I hope this article helped any first time Disneyers of when to watch parades or give them a good idea of when to ride attractions.
