| Welcome fans, I've got a great list of goodies for you today. Today I want to focus on home entertainment - TVs, DVD players, radios, the works. Over the past year Disney has been increasing the amount of electronic goodies available to us, the consumers. I've already talked about the Disney Computer, so if you want to see my write-up about that, then check out my Christmas article. I know that I've mentioned some of these items in passing in at least one other article, but I'd like to look a little more closely at them today. Ok, let's go see what we've got!
Disney Classic Boom Box & Disney Princess Boom Box – Under $50
These are great looking little boom boxes, the classic has the red, yellow, and black colors of that character we've all come to love so much. The Princess has pink and purple colors that are sure to delight your little princesses. This boom box isn't laden with features, it's basically you're standard am/fm radio with CD player; but as an item for children it's pretty good. The retractable antenna has a large safety knob on it, which will help ensure safe operation by children. The boom box has an LCD display and large buttons for easy use. The CD player can play CDs or CD-R's. You can expect many years of use from this fun boom box.
Disney Classic 13in Color TV & Disney Princess 13in Color TV - Under $110
Why not continue your Disney themed, kids, home entertainment system, all the way to the TV? Here we have a 13in color stereo TV in two 'flavors'; there's the Classic and the Princess. The classic TV features the same red, yellow and black that the Classic Boom Box has, and features two large, round speakers atop the set which gives this TV a familiar look. The Princess TV has the same pink and purple coloring as the Princess Boom Box, and features a tiara atop the set which houses the speakers. Both sets come with a remote, and a 181 channel tuner. They also have front mounted A/V ports in addition to the standard rear ones. This is a great addition to any child's room.
Disney Classic DVD Player & Disney Princess DVD Player – Under $70
What TV is complete without a DVD player? What better way for your child to watch all those Disney DVDs than with a Disney themed DVD Player?! These two DVD players are made to go with the TVs, in fact they are designed specifically for the TVs to rest on top of them. The classic DVD player is red and yellow; and the Princess DVD player is pink and purple. The ingenuity doesn't stop with the coloring though, these DVD players are DESIGNED for little kids to use with ease. The classic player features onscreen help from Mickey and his friends; and the Princess player features help from the Disney Princesses. Each DVD player comes with 2 remotes, one full featured remote for adults and one simplified remote with large buttons for little kids. These players accept DVD, VCD, CDR/RW, MP3, and Kodak Picture CDs.
NOTE: I would like to add that from what I can find at my local stores, it seems that many retailers are phasing out the DVD Player, and instead offering the newer Dual Deck DVD/VCR Player. This item is the same with the exception of having a VCR also. The price is under $150.
Disney Classic CD Player & Disney Princess CD Player – Under $30
Here is another entertainment item which comes in either the classic red and yellow, or the Princess pink and purple. These portable, personal CD players are full of features, and promise hours of fun for your little one. Features include: 60 second shock protection (anti-skip), bass boost, animated Disney LCD display, volume control on the headphones, repeat, and random play. These CD players do NOT play MP3 format audio, however they will accept audio CDR/RW. Another neat thing which may interest your child is that each player comes with 3 interchangeable Disney faceplates.
There are more items, and Disney is offering more and more things all the time. I will keep my ear to the ground and keep you abreast of any new and great items. In the following articles I will be discussing the new Disney themed portable DVD player, the new Classic Disney Ice Cream Maker and Classic Disney Ice Shaver.
As always if you can't find an item at your local store look at another store, or on the store's web site. I tend to find the most stuff at Target, but Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Sears all have some things too. You can also find most of these items at Disney's own online store (disneydirect.com). The prices I've listed are just what I've found, you may find them to be more, or less. Happy hunting!
Well that's an earful – until next time, I'm Scott Short...
