Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a special annual holiday event at the Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World. This holiday spectacular takes place on designated nights during the Christmas season. The 2005 dates are Nov 27 and 29, Dec 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18 and 20. The park closes its gate for the day and reopens at 7 PM for the event.

The Magic Kingdom is transformed into a holiday wonderland with decorations, such as a bigger than life Christmas tree, glowing candles and green wreaths with festive trims. Guests are treated to an enchanting snowfall showering Main Street USA. Look out also for bubbles coming out of rooftops to create the illusion of snow. If you have always loved the Cinderella's Castle, you'll love it more on a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party night as the castle changes into more colors than you imagine possible.

If this sounds like a lot of fun, read the Q&As to find out more.

How do I beat the crowd entering the park?

The gate usually opens before 7 pm for the party, but on presentation of your ticket, you can go in around 4 pm and you'll be given a wrist band to indicate that you have a ticket for the party. Cast members clear the park at 6 pm and you will be ushered to Tomorrowland while the park is "officially" closed. If you want to beat the lines, enter the park before 6 pm and have a leisure dinner at one of the park's restaurants while guests are allowed back into the park.

Is there a parade?

Yes, there is not one, but two Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parades. Mickey and Minnie lead the parade, accompanied by the Seven Dwarfs, Chip and Dale, Gingermen Men, Elves, and other Disney characters. Keep a lookout for the amazing toy soldiers, who moved with military precision. High school bands from around the country playing holiday favorites add to the holiday cheer.

What about holiday stage shows?

Definitely, here's a run-down:
- Every Day's a Holiday with Mickey, Minnie and the Kids of the Kingdom
- Diamond Horseshoe Christmas Revue
- Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
- Carolers and choral groups

Are the attractions open?

You bet they are. Hit the more popular attractions during parades and fireworks if the lines are long.

Are there any fireworks?

Yes, there's a special edition of the Wishes Fireworks. These fireworks are simply colorful and extraordinary. They envelope the whole park such that you can view them almost anywhere. Of course, there are better spots than others, but on the whole you can catch a glimpse of the fireworks almost anywhere.
