Step up - A Review

The other night a new Touchstone movie came out. I thought I'd give my 2 cents on it. First of all I did what I never do and I read the reviews before hand. They weren't stellar but they weren't horrible either. Still, this one little thing made me worried about how much I would enjoy Step Up. When I was younger and had a much thinner body, I used to be a dancer so I'm a total sucker for dance movies. I own a lot of them on DVD. Also, I have been looking SOOOO forward to "Step Up" coming out. Well, the moral to the story about reading reviews before I see the movie is at least for me...DON'T. I really enjoyed the movie. Sure, it was somewhat predictable. I knew who would get together and I even saw some of the "twists" coming. Still, I enjoyed the ride. I loved the dance as well as Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan.

As a mom: I would take my teens to see the movie if they were interested in it. The audience was heavily stacked toward young females between the ages of 11 and 25. I would have to say this was the target audience group. Its really not a young child's movie. There were a few men in the audience who were probably dragged there on dates. I know my husband is going with me to see it tonight. (bwahahahahahahahahahahaaa! --oooops sorry!)

As an adult: If you like dance movies like I do, you will like this one. It was well done and enjoyable. It is a bit predictable though the characters we like do grow up despite themselves. I could identify with "Nora" (Jenna Dewan's character) and that always hooks me into a movie. As I stated above, I'm seeing it again tonight with my best friend and hubby. I will buy this one on DVD.

I gave the audience reaction to this movie a 95 out of 100, which is excellent. Everyone in the auditorium seemed to enjoy Step Up as much as I did.
