Disney World Trip Report

I went to Florida with my family for a week. We stayed in the Sarasota area on the west coast. I am not going to talk about the beach part of the vacation, only the Disney part. I did not go to Disney World this year. But I did do something that every girl loves to do: I went shopping at Downtown Disney.

I have been reading all of these articles about how there are gang related activities at Downtown Disney and how people are loitering about the shopping area. I saw none of that. I saw nothing out of the usual; no gang members, loitering, or anybody getting mugged. I still felt very safe at Downtown Disney. I saw Disney security there and I felt like I was in no harm.

Feeling in a safe environment, I started to shop. I went in the World of Disney store and saw plethora new items. I noticed that there were plenty of Pirates of the Caribbean toys and objects and I still love the pirate section of the store. For being on a Sunday afternoon, the store did not seem very crowded.

My family usually goes to the same stores: Days of Christmas, Art of Disney, and Lego Center. I noticed, what I thought were new ornaments in the Christmas store. There were ornaments from It's A Small World. I do not remember seeing them before and I thought that it was a clever idea for ornaments. The Art of Disney store had huge paintings from Pirates of the Caribbean of Jack, Will, and Elizabeth. I could not believe how much the paintings actually looked like the actors/actress. Even though I am too old to play with Lego's, it is fun to look at the new Lego's that are for sale. It makes me reminisce about my sister and I playing Lego's.

Mickey's Mart has everything for sale for ten dollars or under. That store usually has a lot of antenna toppers but I was a little disappointed this year because they did not have as many as last year and I did not see any new ones. We also went to the Basin, which I do not remember going into before. The Basin has so many wonderful smelling soaps and body lotions. It was hard to leave that store.

After doing our shopping, my family ate at the Rainforest Café. If you have not ate at the Rainforest before, then you must go. The menu is huge and the food was so delicious. I also enjoyed looking at all of the fish, especially the ones that looked like Dory from Finding Nemo. The one thing I did not like about the Rainforest was that they do not accept reservations. So if you are planning on eating there, do not come at a busy time of the day.

We went to one final store after our meal; the Virgin Megastore. I love that store. So many CD's, magazines, books, clothes, and more are in the two-story store. I spent, what seemed like a very long time, just looking at their clothes. I found a shirt there by one of my favorite artists that I have never seen before anywhere else. The Virgin Megastore always has items that can not be found anywhere else.

But my trip to Disney did not feel complete. What was missing? And then it happened. A day in Orlando would not be complete without a rain shower. As we exited the Virgin Megastore, it started to pour. Even though it only rained for about thirty minutes, it was still enough to practically flood the parking lot.

I did not have to go to a park to fulfill my love for Disney. All I needed to do was go to Downtown Disney. I had my Disney fix and it will last me until next year.
