Early in the morning on the 29th day of January, a new pirate was brought aboard The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland. Amid fanfare and pirate shenanigans, Jenifer Greenwell was introduced as the newest member of the crew.
Mademoiselle Greenwell, AKA Jenifer Greenwell of St. Petersburg, Florida joined Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa's portraits on the famed entryway of the Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland. As part of the DVD release "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" Disney held a "Become a Disney Pirate" contest. Jenifer was selected as the Grand Prize winner of more than hundreds of thousands of entries. The first stop on Jenifer's voyage was in May 2007 at Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California. There she was sketched in full pirate costume by famed Imagineer artist Jim Crouch. While there, Jenifer was given a VIP tour of Imagineering which few non-Imagineers ever get to experience. Jenifer returned to California in July, staying in the Pirate Suite at the Disneyland Hotel. There Jenifer met with Jim Crouch and the other imagineers and was shown the original artwork that Jim would later paint as a four-foot-tall mural on the wall in the Pirates of the Caribbean. The other pirates currently on display were also painted by Jim Crouch. For more photos click HERE. |
