A group of young dancers had to learn how to cope with a different sort of ball when they entertained thousands of visitors at Disneyland Paris.
Children from the Bath-based Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance visited the attraction to put on a performance on the Fantasy Festival Stage, which featured basketball routines.
The stage in the Fantasyland part of the park is usually used throughout the year for professional song-and- dance spectaculars.
The members auditioned in March for a chance to dance in front of crowds at the venue and 45 six to 16- year-olds were selected to perform.
The cast rehearsed for six months to perfect the routines for songs from Disney's High School Musical.
The 30-minute performance included the basketball-themed dances, cheerleading sequences and a tap routine with kitchen utensils.
Annette Hind, who organised the trip, said it was the third time the school had performed at the attraction and every time had been better than the last.
She said: "Each time we know a bit more about the stage and lighting and we are really enjoying it now.
"When we auditioned the children we not only had to choose people who were good at dancing but also good at ball skills for the basketball routine.
"You don't realise how hard it is until you have a go."
Mrs Hind, who is a teacher at the school in Englishcombe Lane, choreographed the routine with two other teachers.
She said she was pleased with the final performance.
"It went so much better than we thought it was going to," she said.
"There is always a risk when performing with props that somebody will drop something but they all did so well. They were cheered on by the crowd who clapped throughout their performance, which really helps."
Mrs Hind's eight-year-old son Alexander performed in the show.
She said: "This was the first time he had gone to Disney and it was very special for me to see him on stage."
Meanwhile, a group of dancers from the school is preparing for the pantomime at the Theatre Royal.
Sixteen children from the age of six have been chosen to take part in Jack And The Beanstalk, which will start on December 18.
