Artist uses apples for Disney film
The Press Association
11/3/2009

Famous scenes from one of Walt Disney's classic films have been recreated with apples.

Food artist Prudence Staite used 14 different varieties of the fruit to make the six scenes from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

The film, which was first shown in 1937, tells the story of Snow White who is tricked into eating a poisoned apple by her wicked stepmother.

Ms Staite said: "Snow White is the ultimate time enduring classic, so it was fantastic to play around with such well-known, iconic imagery. The apple is such a big part of the story, it seemed right to use it to recreate some of the Disney magic in the works."

She was commissioned by Disney to mark release of the film on Blu-ray for the first time.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was Walt Disney's first full-length production and was awarded an honorary Oscar two years after its release.
