Tumpe, a female that was moved to Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2007, died Tuesday after suffering from skin sores and gastrointestinal problems for two months.

A pathology report is pending, but Disney experts think it was isolated and the rest of the herd is safe.

Tumpe was brought from a zoo in Columbia, South Carolina.

She is the third elephant to die at the park. A newborn and its mother died in 2005 after complications from a cesarean section birth.

The park still has 12 elephants on the grounds.
