Walt Disney World's next big new ride, Toy Story Midway Mania!, has undergone its employee preview opening and is set for a three-day passholders-preview opening starting Saturday.
The indoor ride, built in the old Who Wants to be a Millionaire Play It! building at Disney's Hollywood Studios, uses cutting-edge, 3-D technology to create an interactive, Toy Story-themed carnival experience. There is no word when the full public opening will take place, but a press preview is scheduled next week.
An identical ride is opening this spring in Disney's California Adventure theme park at Disneyland resort in Southern California, with a reported $50 million price tag.
The ride is not the only new item at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The street it is on -- located in the rear of Hollywood Studios -- has been transformed as well and renamed after Pixar Studios, allowing Disney World to take advantage of that animation studio's success.
