 Fantasmic! has a new addition... finally! Maleficent the Dragon is a fully animated, 45 feet tall, 32 feet wide, 9 ton audio-animatronic. She is controlled and monitored by four computer systems, which enable her wide range of movement. Maleficent comes alive moving her eyes, ears, mouth, neck, tongue, wings and body. She is able to contract to 22 feet, underneath the stage.
The crowd applauded her premier performance! Her movement was menacing, yet smooth. May be a bit scary for young children. If you haven't seen Fantasmic! recently, it is well worth a revisit. You won't be disappointed. Due to her late appearance this summer, performances have been extended nightly through the Labor Day weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances of Fantasmic! will be continued through the end of 2009. |
