A fledgling film festival that started in Anaheim last year is expanding its programming to include independent fashion, art and music. The second annual Indie Fest USA kicks off Friday at Downtown Disney. The festival will feature about 63 independent films, many made by local residents. The eight-day gathering will also spotlight indie bands, young fashion designers, up-and-coming celebrities and others associated with the film industry. "We've added quite a bit to the festival," said Susan Costa, a festival partner and public relations manager for the event. "Last year it was just films. This year, it's films, fashion and music. So it broadens the spectrum for the festival. It brings in emerging talent to network together." The festival will begin with an opening night party and reception at 6 p.m. Friday at the House of Blues Anaheim. Designer Jazmin Whitley will host, and entertainment will include pop-rock band Euro, country singer Kate Russell, rock outfit the Malheruex, and jazz-rock band Nastalgia. The opening film, "The End," a supernatural drama, will screen at 7 p.m. Monday at AMC Downtown Disney 12, where all movies will run. Also on Monday, a celebrity fashion show – hosted by reality TV star Jo De La Rosa – will be held in front of the theater. Guests will include Lucy Walsh, Tiffany Hines, Chudney Ross, Christa B. Allen, C.B. Price, Madison Beaty and Ryan Starr. The closing film will be "Paper Dolls," a road trip with a twist, at 10 p.m. Aug. 14. An awards ceremony hosted by radio personality Gary Bryan is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 15. A party is set to follow at the House of Blues, with a performance by rock band Boomkat, whose lead singer is actress Taryn Manning. Tickets are $8.50 per screening, $30 for an all-day pass, $45 for a two-day pass, $65 for a three-day pass and $85 for a four-day pass. A VIP pass that provides admission to all events is $150.
