In concept Disney-MGM Studios is supposed to be working movie studio theme park, not unlike Universal Studios in Los Angeles used to be. In reality, little production actually seems to be done at Disney-MGM. Even the movie sound stages have been removed from the Backlot Tram Tour. Instead, Disney characters and movie themed thrill rides are the current focus. That being said, many people find Disney-MGM their second favorite Walt Disney World Resort theme park, behind the Magic Kingdom. Florida Disney World

i know that they are going to be all sorts of cool additions to the park like completely redoing the star wars ride and a roller coaster ride based on a pixar movie, and a lot more. but the one thing i've been dying to try to find out is when will an indy jones ride be built. the indy jones ride in disneyland(i've only been to that park there once) was my favorite ride of all time, and i think its the best ride ever built in any park in the world. when will we finally get one, and what will it be like?

I'm back everyone. It is good to be back from my hiatus. Disneydreamer4, to answer your question, there is nothing currently going in to replace Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey. However, behind it on what used to be called Mickey Avenue (now Pixar Place) there are several additions and new things going in.

Is it true that where Walt Disney's plane is used to be a runway

     Reported by: danim on: 5/1/2007

No, there was not a runway on the site where the plane sits today, but there is a runway, called the "STOLPORT" just across from the Magic Kingdom's main parking lot that was intended for the Disney family's use when they would visit the park in their private plane. It is now mainly used for event bus parking.

     Reported by: Katy20003 on: 3/29/2007

Katy it will all happen next year in the summer of 2008! This is because of the opening of Toy Story Mania so you would know that after Toy Story Mania you will expect more Pixar attractions coming in the future. Also in the same day of the rename Block Party Bash parade from Disney's California Adventure will debut in the park.

Say goodbye to the MGM Studios sign and logos. Disney will be announcing that it does not plan on extending its contract with MGM after it expires. They will legally have to change the name of the park, logos, and any other products that say "MGM" on them. "Walt Disney Studios" is the logical choice for the new name, however they made a mistake when naming the equal to MGM in Paris by naming it "Walt Disney Studios". They should have named it "Walt Disney Studios Paris" and MGM would then read "Walt Disney Studios Florida". The new official name will be "Walt Disney Production Studios". Some are already calling MGM, "Production Studios".

     Reported by: wdwfan@wv.com on: 4/11/2005

Confirmed. Also look for the Great Movie Ride to be changed as well. This is because MGM movies are currently featured inside the ride. For more info go to: http://www.mickeynews.com/Columns/DisplayColumn.asp_Q_id_E_391 Read about half way down.

In regards to Treeko626 posting, it doesn't actually take a lot of rain but a lot of standing rain water to stop the show. The characters have safety issues when there is standing water so the show is cancelled. When I went to go see it (last night I was there too) it was cancelled because the water had collected too much on the stage. They didn't even shoot off the pyro stuff, they sent us all away (bummer).

I've been meaning to ask this for a long time. How much rain does there have to be for them to stop the "Fantasmic" show? (and couldnt have they just build a ceiling over the show to prevent rain from coming in?)

     Reported by: Treeko626 on: 12/5/2004

I think it would take quite a bit of rain to stop the show. But, of course, lightning and hard rain, because of the safety of the guests and the characters in the show and because of the fireworks, would stop it.
          Confirmed By: booeisner On: 1/9/2005

I just recently saw Fantasmic and it was a complete disopointment. When Malifacent was supposed to turn into a dragon it was just Malifecent... What happened to the dragon?! Did it have some kind of a malfunction or something? (All Im asking is why wasnt the dragon in the show)

     Reported by: Mike on: 11/27/2004

The dragon was down resently do to a technicaly malfunction with the pyrotechniques cannon (for the fire) "aiming" the effect too close to the audience. The dragon should already be back, but it may take another week if the fire marshall hasn't inspected it yet (or if something else went wrong after that).

I can't beleive that disney would sacrifice the backlot tour houses(and like 1/3 of the ride) just to make an attraction.(not to mention the annual Osborn familey light displays they have during November-December)

     Reported by: Treeko626 on: 8/22/2004

They don't make it seem that way right now. Right now the park guides make it seem like it is a total separate attraction from the tour! But that would be cool if they did make the "behind the scenes" part of the show part of the tour!
          Confirmed By: Jeremy On: 9/22/2004

No I doubt the park will be closed, I did hear of new things being adopted from disneyland paris and being introduced to disney MGM in Florida including "Lights, Cameras, and Motorcars".      Reported by: Treeko626 on: 6/18/2004

I would be too costly to move the entire ride. However, if they do (which the top brass are still not sure of) the movies help within the ride will stay the same movies and the same layout. The technology may become newer but the movies will be the same. But, talks of just adding newer movies on have been heard. They would not replace, just add to.
