After years of anticipation and hard work, Disney Cruise Line’s second private island is ready to receive guests. Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, located on Eleuthera in the Bahamas, has been under construction since April 2022. The pristine, private oasis will officially open its shores to the first group of visitors on June 7, 2024.

The new destination was celebrated with a special ceremony on May 30, 2024, featuring leaders from Disney Cruise Line, the Bahamian Government, and the local community. The event was held at the Goombay Cultural Center, where guests can embrace the vibrant Bahamian festival, Junkanoo, which has significantly inspired the island’s design.

Thomas Mazloum, President of New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences, expressed his excitement: “For years, our teams at Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering have collaborated with the incredible community in The Bahamas to bring our second island destination to life. Today, we celebrate with local and government leaders for this new chapter.”

The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis, spoke to the authenticity and sustainability Disney has maintained in this project and highlighted the economic benefits, including around 200 jobs for locals. The collaboration with local businesses ensures that visitors will enjoy authentic Bahamian products and services. The ceremony also included traditional performances, delicious local cuisine, and even appearances by Mickey and Minnie Mouse donning their new Bahamas-inspired outfits.

Beginning June 6, 2024, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will welcome its first guests from the Disney Magic, the oldest ship in the Disney fleet. This inaugural preview cruise will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offering guests a taste of Bahamian culture, beach-side activities, water sports, and more.

Following the preview, Disney Fantasy, which launched in 2012, will operate the first official sailing to Lighthouse Point, embarking from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, on June 8, 2024. This 7-night voyage will include multiple stops at Lighthouse Point, as well as visits to Nassau and Castaway Cay.
