Each year, Disney VoluntEARS from around the world join forces to be part of something bigger: Family Volunteer Day. This annual day of service is sponsored by Disney in partnership with the nonprofit Points of Light, bringing families together to make memories and impact the local communities where they live, work and play for more than 25 years.

From food collection to beach cleaning to storytelling and more, Disney VoluntEARS joined together for this special day to strengthen communities and make a difference. Let’s take a look!

At the Orange County Food Bank, nearly 200 Disney VoluntEARS from the Disneyland Resort gathered on Saturday to pack almost 6,000 food boxes for distribution to those in need in the surrounding areas. Across the country in Central Florida, Disney VoluntEARS from Walt Disney World hosted activities for wish families visiting Give Kids the World and donated their time to work on a beautification project across the grounds of the nonprofit.

In Asia, Hong Kong Disneyland partnered with HandsOn to bring Disney VoluntEARS out to the local village Shek O for a beach cleaning and sand sculpting event in celebration of Family Volunteer Day. Last week, Disney VoluntEARS also planned games and hosted a storytelling session at the annual Stargaze Camp for All and the Blind, and even more volunteers participated in a joint sports day with local special education schools.

More than 100 Disney VoluntEARS from Shanghai Disney Resort and their families helped out in honor of Family Volunteer Day. They hosted Family Imagination Playground activities for migrant children, cheered on hundreds of families during a Family Walkathon to raise funds for the elderly in Shanghai, made Thanksgiving cards with children during hospital visits and shared Disney stories with young readers in a local library as part of the Disney Reading Together program.

Disney VoluntEARS donate hundreds of thousands of service hours every year around the world, and Family Volunteer Day is just one way we’re working to “Share the Joy” and inspire others to make a difference in their communities this holiday season.
