Buckle up, Disney fans! The Haywood Community Band is set to weave that unmistakable touch of Disney magic into their season opener. Scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Long’s Chapel Methodist Church in Waynesville, this free concert promises an afternoon of musical enchantment.

Titled “Disney Music Magic!” the concert will bring to life beloved songs from Disney classics spanning the last four decades. Making his grand debut as the new conductor, Stephen Razo, who expresses his excitement, said, “Disney music is so, well, magical. Expect an unforgettable mix from Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen, and more.”

Razo warmly invites the audience to immerse themselves in the festive tunes. “Disney melodies transport us, becoming a cherished memory each time we hear them,” he shared. “That’s just how Walt imagined it.”

Since its inception 22 years ago, the Haywood Community Band has blossomed into a prominent musical ensemble in Western North Carolina. Presenting nine free concerts annually, the band now boasts over 60 talented musicians, playing everything from high brass to percussion.

With the fresh season ahead, the band has also welcomed assistant conductor Jenna Misch from Arizona. Both Razo and Misch bring extensive directing experience, promising an exhilarating season under their new leadership.
