In an exciting development, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have unveiled the name of their much-anticipated sports-focused streaming service: Venu Sports! Additionally, subscribers will gain access to ESPN+ – which currently retails at $10.99 per month. Customers will be able to dive into their favorite games through a dedicated Venu Sports app. Even more enticing, the service will offer bundling options with other popular Disney platforms like Disney+, Hulu, and Max for those looking to create a comprehensive streaming package. Pete Distad, CEO of Venu Sports, assures fans that Venu Sports will be more than just another streaming service, promising a “best-in-class product” that leverages cutting-edge technology to captivate sports fans.
Despite the buzz, the streaming venture isn’t without its hurdles. Regulatory approval is still pending, and the US Department of Justice is reviewing the joint venture due to concerns related to competition and consumer impact. Adding further drama, FuboTV, a direct competitor, has filed an antitrust lawsuit, alleging that Venu Sports could stifle competition and inflate prices.
