Donald Duck’s 90th Birthday Kicks Off with a Quacktastic Global Celebration!
On the morning of June 7, Disney fans everywhere got a delightful surprise with the kickoff of the global celebration for Donald Duck’s 90th birthday. The festivities started with a splash on Good Morning America, where over 70 new Donald Duck-themed products from more than 20 top-tier brands like American Tourister, Casetify, and Loungefly were unveiled. The celebration doesn’t stop there—more products are set to debut throughout the summer from other beloved brands like Citizen, GAP, and PEZ.
Donald Duck, who has delighted audiences in over 150 short films, will be honored with two newly restored classics: “Crazy Over Daisy” and “Out on a Limb,” both directed by Disney Legend Jack Hannah. These gems will be available to stream on Disney+ starting June 9. Adding to the excitement, Walt Disney Animation Studios will release “D.I.Y. Duck,” an all-new short starring Donald, marking his animated return since 1961. This new short, written and directed by renowned animator Mark Henn, will debut on Disney+, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ YouTube channel, Disney Channel, and Freeform. Be ready for a comedic roller coaster as Donald’s simple home repair tasks spiral into hilarious chaos.
From Burbank to Tokyo and Hong Kong, the celebration has spread far and wide. Tokyo Disney Resort will delight guests with “Donald’s Quacky Duck City,” offering limited-time merchandise, food, and the “Quacky Celebration: Donald the Legend!” parade. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Disneyland fans can enjoy special events, including “Donald’s Birthday Duckling Dance,” unique outfit appearances, themed merchandise, and a spectacular one-time castle projection show, “Donald’s Quacktastic Surprise!”
The Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California, has also joined in the celebrations early with several Donald-themed transformations and activities. The iconic Mickey Avenue sign has morphed into “Donald” Avenue, and the Archives logo now proudly features Donald Duck’s iconic design through the years.
