Exciting developments are underway at Hong Kong Disneyland as one version of Main Street, U.S.A. has embraced an icy transformation! Disney fans, brace yourselves for a trip to Arendelle as part of Main Street now boasts delightful “Frozen” theming in a cozy corner of the park.

Disney’s love for leveraging its intellectual properties (IP) is no secret. From the beloved Maelstrom ride giving way to “Frozen Ever After” at EPCOT to the Marvel makeover of Disney’s Hotel New York, these transformations are certainly making waves. Under the leadership of CEO Bob Iger, Disney has made it clear that this trend of imbibing popular franchises into park experiences will continue to flourish. Recent reports confirm that Disney’s ambitious plans include a massive $60 million investment over the next decade to infuse even more of their IPs into existing parks.

At Hong Kong Disneyland, this trend manifests in a beautiful snowy theme inside the Emporium store on Main Street, U.S.A. Enthusiastic Twitter users have shared images of charming snowgies – the tiny snow creatures conjured by Elsa – adorning the space, alongside Olaf figurines and Arendelle-inspired decor. This enchanting corner provides “Frozen” fans with an opportunity to grab themed merchandise without the hustle of navigating through the crowded gift shop at World of Frozen, a land dedicated entirely to the “Frozen” universe that opened in November 2023.

This strategy to inject new life into park elements while providing ample opportunity for IP-themed shopping experiences is a significant draw for guests. For instance, Tokyo DisneySea is set to open its own “Frozen” area in the new Fantasy Springs section in June, featuring a highly-anticipated attraction, Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey. Plus, come 2025, Disneyland Paris will unveil a new “Frozen” land at Disney Adventure World within the Walt Disney Studios Park.

As Disney eyes more integration of its popular franchises, the question remains: do the parks need more IP, or do we risk losing the unique charm of the original themes?
