Bonjour and Happy Global Running Day, a day where we celebrate the joys of running around the world! In honor of this special day, we caught up with our friends across the pond to see what’s new at Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon Weekend.

If you missed the inaugural Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon Weekend don’t worry, now is the perfect time to start making plans to get into this year’s event.

Think about it. The panoramic views of Paris from atop the Eiffel Tower. Shopping along the famed Champs-Élysées. And a magical run through the French countryside that finishes amid Disney characters and entertainment at Disneyland Paris Resort.

C’est magnifique!

This year’s race is September 21-24 and I’m being told that it figures to be even bigger and better than last year. That’s because our friends at runDisney are adding several new enhancements, such as a new 10K and a Challenge event.

The 6.2-mile 10K will take runners on a route through Disneyland Paris Resort filled with surprises and plenty of Disney entertainment. Runners who take on the 10K and the half marathon will complete the new Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Challenge and earn a new Cinderella-themed medal. And runners who complete the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon and any other runDisney half marathon or marathon in the same calendar year will receive the Castle to Chateau Challenge medal.

Another new twist is that the Disneyland Paris 5K will be run at night, giving runners the chance to experience the course and Disneyland Paris Resort in a new way. Under the Parisian night sky, runners of all levels will journey down Hollywood Boulevard and around The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

After the 5K, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort will open its doors for a special runDisney event and anyone participating in the race weekend looking to add a little extra magic to their runDisney experience can purchase tickets to the private Kick-Off Party. With exclusive access to main attractions, Disney characters, commemorative photo opportunities and a DJ party, this event is the perfect way to get the race weekend started.

With so many new things happening this year at Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon Weekend, there is so much to get excited about! General registration will be opening next week! For the latest information, please visit http://run.disneylandparis.com/.
